Sauternes from Château Villefranche, a family-owned estate on the Haut-Barsac plateau, on clay-limestone soils near the Ciron. Sémillon dominates the blend, completed by Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle.
The grapes affected by noble rot are harvested in successive passes. After fermentation, the wine is aged in barriques.
A full-bodied sweet white wine, with a concentration expressed through a soft and enveloping texture. The acidic structure supports the sweetness, giving continuity to the palate and making the finish more distinct. Ripe yellow fruit, quince and honey define the aromatic profile, accompanied by candied fruit and delicate hints of vanilla. The contribution of Sémillon gives volume, while the freshness prevents the texture from becoming heavy. The selection of botrytized grapes and barrel aging create a rich yet balanced style, in which sweetness, acidity and texture remain recognizable until the finish.
