Georges Duboeuf's Beaujolais-Villages is a Gamay selected by the house. The appellation comprises 38 communes, at elevations between 250 and 450 metres, with predominantly granitic and sometimes sandy soils: a setting distinct from both southern Beaujolais and the individual appellations of the ten crus.
A medium-bodied red, in which freshness supports the fruit without weighing down the palate. The structure is measured, with fine, gentle tannins accompanying a soft and velvety texture. Raspberry, redcurrant and blackcurrant define the aromatic core, while hints of cherry and violet broaden its range. The character remains centred on fruit and suppleness, with an agile progression and a delicate finish. The Gamay imprint is expressed through this combination of fragrance, freshness and subtle texture, in an accessible style with substance.
