Hentley Farm’s Barossa Collection Riesling comes from Eden Valley, a high-altitude region in South Australia. The selection of small, elevated vineyards is aimed at a fresh and aromatic expression of the grape.
The cuvée prioritises the preservation of aromas and natural acidity. The 2023 vintage, with moderate temperatures and cool nights, allowed the fruit to ripen gradually.
A Riesling of moderate weight but good intensity, built around a pronounced acidity that gives tension and continuity to the palate. The texture is precise and compact, with a juicy mid-palate and a decidedly dry finish. Lime, lemon and orange peel dominate the aromatic profile, accompanied by chalky and talc-like nuances. The citrus concentration provides presence without weighing down the structure. The altitude of Eden Valley and the fresh character of the vintage are expressed in the vibrancy and definition of the fruit. The result is a taut and linear style, with a persistence that mainly recalls citrus fruits and their peel.
